During spring break, my husband and I set out from Illinois for a visit to Dogwood Hills Guest Farm. We were enthralled by it all and the hospitality of Ruth and Grace couldn't have been better. I got to milk Drizzle, one of the dairy cows and see how Ruth keeps everything going in the morning with preparing food for all the animals. They have one Sheep, several cows, geese, ducks, goats, chickens, dogs and friendly cats. We made fast friends with Ivy and Maggie. We loved our visit, I look forward to visiting again. Grace made us a delicious breakfast. I'm so impressed with all the hard work they put in, and making it look easy, though I know it's not.
This was such an exciting day! We had so much fun with our farmer lady. She was so knowledgeable. We had hands-on experience feeding the animals and milking cows. The weather was perfect. It was just such a great experience.
Our group of 5 took their gnocchi making class Friday night and it was absolutely a 5 star experience. Ruth and Grace have managed to create an environment that’s perfect for both learning and for enjoyment. The cozy kitchen smelled like home when we walked in we immediately dived in to pasta making. We appreciated their patience as struggled to make pretty pasta shapes. 😂 Grace even made fresh ricotta while worked through our fresh from the garden salads. Throughout the class both ladies taught and cooked seamlessly. Fresh coffee paired with dessert and great conversation made the night complete. We even got to keep the boards we made our gnocchi on! Having loved our experience so much we came back for the farm experience breakfast on Sunday. If you’re in town DO NOT miss out on this opportunity!
An incredible experience whether you're coming for a dinner or a farm stay. Authentic experiences include the chance to milk a cow and see how a farm works from the inside out. Kitchen is completely gluten free!
We had such an amazing stay at Dogwood Hills! Ruth, Grace & Tom go out of their way to create a welcoming and comfortable environment. The lovingly prepared, and locally sourced, home-cooked meals were absolutely delicious, and the farm is home to a wide array of friendly animals to hang with. As a person with multiple food allergies, eating while traveling is usually a source of constant stress for me. However, the care that was taken to prepare each of my meals was so thoughtful and intentional that I cannot stress how cared for I felt. (PS: Everything that comes out of this kitchen is gluten-free!) Not to mention, this was THE spot to watch the eclipse, and is a close drive to the beautiful Buffalo National River. Thank you for the lovely stay!!
