This was the first on our 5.5 hour tour that took us to Green Well Farms, Kaloko-Honokohoq National Park, Honanza Pokémon Shop, St. Benedict Catholic Church, and the ABC Dtore #71. This "Big C" tour was great and our tour guide Jess was friendly, outgoing, knowlegable, and a lot of fun. If you like Kona coffee this is a must visit. The samples of coffee are great, the gift shop is very nlce, and the farm is beautiful even after the major storm that came thru. In some of my pictures you can see the damage.
It a great experience to visit green well farms and touring around their coffee farm as well as taste different kind of Kona coffees. Staff are very knowlegeable told us about how and when to pick up coffee seed. Overall it great place to visit.
We liked and bought coffee from Greenwell farms since we first visited in 2010, so we came again when revisiting the Big Island 15 years later; coffee is still great and the free tour actually got much better. They now grow a lot more different things on the property and make it almost a botanical garden tour experience, so you get to learn about many things ranging from tulip tree to black pepper to cacao, aside from coffee itself. Nate was a really knowledgeable guide who kept everyone in the group engaged and having fun- from seasoned plant geeks to reluctant teenagers dragged in by parents- and was especially awesome with little kids. My husband hires private tour guides often on his birding trips, but even he was impressed by his knowledge and positive energy. I also loved the unique vibrant artwork at the gift shop, done by a local artist. Thank you Greenwell farms for going the extra mile for your fans!
Such an incredible free tour! Our guide, Matt, was funny and entertaining, as well as informative and educated. He talked us through the history of coffee farming in Kona, the coffee making process, and the trials the farm has had to overcome. A truly enlightening tour on beautiful grounds, plus free samples of different Kona coffees. Note: Since the flash flooding in March, the property is not fully accessible. However, the staff still did an excellent job of explaining the whole tour.
Nicely maintained farm with a great place to taste some variety of coffee flavors. Thr tour guide was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions our group had. She walked us through the process form beginning to end. Nice views around the farm. There is no fees for the tour or coffee tasting. It's a great place to buy some local grown coffee once you have tasted. Nice trees for avocado, orange, pepper corn.
