Haney's Appledale Farm - Nancy KY

Went to Haney’s while visiting family for the week. Came in, we got food and everything was great so far. Noticed the table we were sitting at was dirty and had a nat flying around but we didn’t bother to say anything because it’s a small cafe anyway and who cares? That’s just what happens at places where there’s food! It was just us and another family and that’s it. So it’s whatever, but then after we were done eating I decided to get some doughnuts for me and my sister. I bought half a dozen.. this is where it goes downhill. I got two Bavarian creams, a cider with cinnamon sugar, the glazed cider, a chocolate cake, and a regular yeast with frosting, with the hopes of sharing some good donuts and spending time with my family. However, when I got home I decided to take a bite out of the Bavarian cream, it was kinda difficult because the outside was rock solid.. but even worse, the inside was filled with spoiled pudding! Both donuts were spoiled. You can see with the consistency that it even doesn’t look right in the photo. So I thought, “great! I hope these others are promising.” So then I tried the others, the cider donuts were also mostly solid on the outside, not as bad as the bavarians, but also with an after taste of dish soap(not trying to be dramatic). I’m not one to complain or write reviews but I only ate one of the donuts which was the yeast one and that’s it, the others I had to throw away because they were so bad unfortunately. So, to make up for it I decided to call to hopefully get a refund but was then told they “need the product in order to give a refund.” However, if the person on the phone had just taken one of the Bavarian cream donuts on display in their cafe and just simply took a bite, they wouldn’t be able to eat it and that’s not an exaggeration at all! And, I wouldn’t be able to come back because again, I am visiting family and am on a tight schedule. Trust me, I explained to them over and over how they can just simply give refunds back by recalling their transactions. The quality was clearly an issue and they did not need me to come back in at all. Considering the price of half a dozen donuts being $18.50, I should’ve known. Haney’s has always been a tradition for my family so I never would’ve chosen to see them in such an ill light but it’s donuts. It’s a simple thing to refund without having to come back in, it wasn’t something where they just needed “proof” that it was bad when they could’ve tried the ones in the display, it was that bad! You can’t give overpriced food that’s also bad quality that you can’t even eat and then also make it impossible to refund with a fake policy that only happens to exist at your store. Will not be going back.

We were looking for Arkansas Black apples. We found them at this orchard. Haney’s has a great bakery, a large store with many types of apples, cider, jams, jellies…. Finally, they have a cafe and a clothing/gift shop on site. Owner was very cordial, staff friendly.

Went here for the afternoon with a group! It was a bit warm out but nice breeze! Very cute gift shop and they have a little cafe with slushies, coffee, donuts, soup and sandwiches ect.! The fried apple pies are yummy! All staff were very kind! We did apple picking - 1/2 peck $8- or 1 peck $12 - which was the best deal! Yellow apples behind the play area - were delicious! Maybe 🤔 Yellow delicious? 😋

What a lovely trip! Got to pick apples with my family, eat a nice lunch of sandwiches with an apple pie dessert, let the kids play on the playground, and enjoy a sunny fall day. The area is clean, the staff friendly, the prices fair. I loved the options in the store as well. The BBQ pork sandwich was delicious along with the apple slushy and apple pie!

I like the wide variety of items on the café's menu. I can't wait for apple-picking season and fresh apples to be available. 🍎☕️
