Lakeland Yard & Garden Center - Flowood MS

I have been trying to reduce plastic waste and at the same time find better inputs for my garden. I wasn't sure buying bulk dirt would work for me, but the crew at Lakeland loaded my yard of dirt and strapped it down for the ride home. They also have a wide selection of garden products I couldn't find elsewhere.

This is a very nice yard and garden BUT prices are much higher than most others. They definitely have the largest variety of flowers, scrubs, trees, etc. The employees are also very friendly and helpful. Gave 4 stars because the prices are higher than normal. If you can’t find what you need anywhere else they are bound to have it here but be prepared to PAY more than you’d like for it. But if you really want it, no matter what the cost it’s always worth it!! They have patio furniture, fountains, garden seeds, grass seeds, you name it! Definitely good to visit and see all it has to offer.

Was this once knowledgeable and patient staff replaced with teenagers? I rushed from Hattiesburg to make it in before closing because I live 2 hours away in Cleveland, MS. I walked in the door at 5:34. By the time I made it to the greenhouses, I had 2 separate staff tell me they were closing at 6. I don't typically like to linger when I shopping for plants - I knew what I was looking for (dahlia, some new daisy varieties, deep purple petunias, some black-eyed susans, carnations/sweet William, peach vinca...). The same salesperson - #75 on my sales ticket - helped me reach a plant in the middle of a table and simply rushed me out the door - handed me my check out ticket as I asked a quick question before picking up 2 $70 planters. At that point, it was 5:55. I pushed my car to the register, let the cashier ring it up while I went to use the restroom, came out in the dark, paid my bill will a kid loaded my car, then, as I looked at them, someone locked both front gates- I decided to cruise to the back lot in search of another exit and found a gate item there just before I busted out my bolt cutters. Just rude and rushed. Another 10 minutes would have earned them another $500 in sales. Instead I went down the road to Lowe's where Kim was not only super helpful, she kept the garden register open for me until 6:35 - I left with the $500 that I would have spent at Lakeland. Just a well because I found a better selection of healthier plants. Not going back.

Love the place, the staff is so nice and they have every single annual and perennial that you can ask for… I love that they have such a wide variety of garden stuff.

Great place to go for my gardening needs. One of their employees, Alex has helped me with many gardening questions and she’s knows about deals. I showed her simple pictures of my garden/yard and she seems to have a very good eye and knowledge. This is my favorite spot to go to for months now. I’m definitely more in love with my garden/yard now.
