My aunt and I had the pleasure of staying at Fanny’s farm…and meeting Julie. We were on a little road trip to visit many friends and family around Nebraska and Missouri. What a gem we found! This experience made our trip so much more by way of staying in a lovely homestead, on an amazing sustainable farm that included opportunities to enjoy nature. I highly recommend this rare and simple sanctuary for an intentional getaway or if traveling through. Ofc Mr. Beau (dog;) brought even more joy watching him tromp around the expansive property. We even partook in Julie’s crop one morning with THE FRESHEST asparagus and sweetest lemon. Unbelievable goodness!

Ruth is British so the name of this place gave caution to the encounter at first. Traditionally, in England, a ladies privates are not an invitation to discussion. We chose to reside here for the night in addition to the farm tour and the pleasantries of the farm store. Our evening, after dinner down at Jerry’s Hilltop Cafe, was enjoyed with out hosts at the glass wine bottle grain bin. The evening was also the last of the Persieds Meteor shower so we reclined looking upwards over a beverage of choice and talked until nearly midnight with our hosts about the farm and the development of the place. We enjoyed our tour off the greenhouses, the fields of tomato, corn, squash, and harvesting a wide variety of herbs in the large geothermal grow house used through the bitter Nebraska winter. Now for those of you unable to store and process fresh herbs from the farm, it is possible to select the wide variety of them already dried and packaged for use in the farm store. Knowing we would be using the herbs very quickly Ruth choose to take a few cuttings back to prepare meals ion the immediate future. Both of the owners are delightful. Gene will be happy to give you insight on how to construct your very own wine bottle grain bin of you have time to take notes. the accommodations here are choice hideaway venue. The old grey farm dog will love you for a kind pat on the back and you will be befriended for life. The chickens here are escorted about by a very loud goose. If you are new to homesteading or farming, this is a good place to schedule a tour. Looking to escape city life for the weekend, again, a good choice of value too.

We love Pfanny’s Farm! My kids enjoy visiting the chickens, and I enjoy buying food and products that are organic and local. Gene and Julie are the icing on the cake. They are down-to-earth and authentically hospitable. In our busy culture, it’s nice to have a place to slow down and find community.

8-2025 - Updated for my 2nd stay! I had a mini stay cation with two of my best friends. As always, the cottage was clean and spacious and provided us a fantastic place to talk a walk and spend time connecting without distractions. Definitely a great place to getaway! 4-2024 - What a great little place for a staycation! Julie and her husband are fantastic hosts. We will be back. Just the right amount of space for 3 ladies to hang out and spend time together to celebrate a 40th birthday in a quite, nature filled setting.

Julie and Gene were the perfect hosts. It was great to see all the many things they had going on the Farm. We learned a lot for our future greenhouse gardening. Such a beautiful place. We highly recommend it.
