We love the goat farm! It's a great activity to do with the kids and admission is free. $6 a bag of feed for the goats and we usually end up getting gelato as well. There are bathrooms and a hand washing station which is really helpful. Lots of covered seating and picnic benches. They also have farm tours but we haven't done that yet. Beautiful mountain views are a bonus.
I left feeling deeply saddened by what I saw. The goats are kept in a small, crowded enclosure with very little room to move around, despite there being plenty of grassy open space nearby. When I asked whether they are ever allowed access to larger outdoor areas where they can run and graze, I was disappointed by the answer. Watching the younger goats try to play and move around in such a confined space was especially upsetting. They appeared to have nowhere to expend their natural energy because the enclosure was so overcrowded. From what I observed, their primary purpose seems to be milk production. Visitors purchase bags of purina feed that support milk output, and the goats are regularly brought to milking stations where they are connected to machines. Meanwhile, guests enjoy the products made from that milk…ice cream, cheese, soaps, and more- without necessarily considering the living conditions of the animals producing it. The goats spend their days in a covered enclosure on old hay and straw, with limited access to sunlight and little opportunity to engage in natural behaviors. In my opinion, this raises serious concerns about their welfare. Goats are intelligent, sensitive, and highly social animals. They deserve an environment that allows them to move freely, explore, and truly live. Businesses that benefit from these animals should be held to a higher standard of care and respect for their well-being.
Great fun for the whole family! We joined the guided farm tour group led by Heidi to learn more about the products, operations, and agriculture. Hands-on opportunities to milk/feed/pet goats. Afterwards, be sure to grab some farm-fresh gelato and goat cheese from the farm store, yum!
Visited Sweet Land Farm for the first time today with my family, and we had an amazing time! We took the official farm tour and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Our guide was incredibly informative, explained everything clearly, and did a fantastic job keeping the kids completely engaged. During the tour, they teach you so much about the history of the land and how Sweet Land Farm actually came to be. We learned all about the different types of goat breeds they raise, walked through the milking process, and the cheese-making process. The tour is highly interactive and even includes goat feed and a unique chance to milk the goats yourself! After the tour, we stopped by the farm shop to browse their homemade goods. We tried the goat's milk ice cream, and it was absolutely delicious—creamy, fresh, and the perfect treat. We will definitely be back to try their cheeses next time. If you are looking for a fun, unique activity on Oahu, I highly recommend visiting. It is completely enjoyable for adults, not just children. As a major bonus, you can actually visit the farm for FREE to see and pet the goats with zero pressure to spend money. Even if you opt out of the tour, you can still purchase goat feed on its own to feed the animals. We highly recommend this wonderful local spot!🤙🏼
Was a lovely experience with the tour guide Heidi! My family and I enjoyed the tour experience, as well as the goat milk based ice cream. We look forward to coming back!
