This garden center rocks. I absolutely love the wide spacing between the aisles. I went recently on a cool, cloudy day, and it was like therapy walking around in there. While this place has a huge selection, this is definitely not a cookie-cutter garden center. The personal curation is evident. Plus, the inventory was so healthy looking that it really put the big box stores to shame. I actually only do houseplants, and I mainly stopped in to buy some coco coir for my homemade airy mix. I keep telling myself, “absolutely no more plants," but you know, it doesn’t hurt to look. I am a total Hoya maniac, and I saw that they had a beautiful sun-stressed Carnosa with vines that were like 4’ long. Even though I have an entire section of my house filled with Carnosa varieties alone, I couldn’t resist! Another huge find was a healthy Ficus Elastica Tineke, which Blooming Acres had a whole section of. My friend had been complaining of somehow killing hers (lol it’s actually possible, I guess), so I was excited to buy one for her as a gift. She was thrilled to not have to get an inferior, overpriced one off of Etsy. Since the main reason for my visit was the coco coir, I asked the owner if he had any. Fortunately, he had a bunch of the 2 cu ft (I think) bags of the Bush Doctor Coco Loco mix in stock, which I love. In fact, that is a really good mix as-is to use for rooting my hoyas in. I told him that the 2 cu ft was a little too much for me to carry into my house, and he so graciously took a jumbo planter and filled it to the top with the mix and charged me almost nothing for it! I actually needed a planter that size to put my out-of-control Tradescantia in, so it was much appreciated. And speaking of Tradescantia, I saw that Blooming Acres had these gorgeous Purple Hearts in hanging baskets that looked so vibrant and healthy, unlike the crusted mess I have at home. That really gave me the inspiration I needed to chop and restart my plant under better conditions. I also had a blast in the front area of the store, where they were remodeling. I bought some small artisan planters and those little figural planter-hugging accessories (rabbits, squirrels, etc) that I am obsessed with. I also snagged a heavy-duty Buddha head planter for a friend for her String of Pearls! If I were able to actually keep ‘String of’ anything alive, I totally would’ve bought one for myself. The staff members were friendly, and they all greeted me while I was poking around. The owner is highly knowledgeable about basically every plant and gardening topic. My only regret about the whole trip is that I forgot to ask him his name! He is super real and very passionate. Anyway, I can’t wait to go back there!
Picked up flower baskets last year had no problems they were beautiful. This year bought three baskets on mother's Day one looks okay the other 2 look terrible. They have all been hung the same fertilized the same watered the same. Called the store and was told they don't replace after a week. Very disappointed in flowers this year next year will be going somewhere different.
Drove about 35 minutes to get here and it did not disappoint. They have a huge variety of vegetables, flowers, ferns and herbs. They carry lemongrass and citronella plants which are hard to find. Hanging baskets range in price from $30-$90. 1 quart plants are $5.99 I got these geraniums for $16.99. the plants looked very healthy and there are a lot of friendly gardeners there to help.
Fantastic selection, HUGE greenhouses. I visited Blooming Acres for the first time on Saturday, May 4th. I'd heard the radio advertisements over the years but never made the trip to Wadsworth. Let me tell you, it's totally worth the trip. As you can see by the photos I took, the plants are abundant and in very good health. Paved flooring and wide aisles allow access for those in a wheelchair as well as those pulling carts FULL of plants as you shop. From hanging baskets to bedding plants, Blooming Acres has something for everyone. I can't wait to go back and buy everything I thought I needed for this year plus some plants I'd never seen before. You can tell the ownership cares about their business just by looking at what they have for sale.
Very friendly and professional staff, the selection is amazing as well. We will definitely be coming back again.
