I got to bring my kids for the first time and it was like reliving my childhood memories. I remember going to Currier on a kindergarten field trip from St. James and the orchard has always held a special, nostalgic place in my heart. It was wonderful to be able to bring my own children here 30 years after my first field trip and I hope they carry these memories into adulthood, just like I did.
I love Currier Orchards. They have the best take and bake apple pies. Pumpkin bread is delicious. One knows that good quality comes from here!
Courier Orchards is a family-owned Orchard that has been in Merrimack for decades. It's simple, nothing fancy, good prices, and a fun time. They have wagons for families with children. When we visited they were picking McIntosh, honeycrisp, and local Merrimack grown peaches! They have a small store that offers apple butter, some jams, pumpkins, and fresh vegetables and picked fruit for those who don't want to pick your own. The apple cider is great. There is plenty of parking, and the walk to the Orchards is a short 5 minute walk. They accept credit cards.
Currier Orchards in Merrimack, NH by Diana H. It’s my favorite time of year once again: Autumn: warm days and cool nights; cider donuts with a mug of hot mulled cider, colorful leaves golden, crimson and tangerine. Every Fall for the past 30 years my family has made the trek to a wonderful gem called: “Currier Orchards” located in the Town of Merrimack, NH! As I enter the rustic building, I step into Currier’s lovely shop, it is like stepping into a time portal. It looks the same to me as it always has; other than the faces smiling back at me are that of the now grown grandchildren of Farmer Eber Currier and his wife Trudie. I say: “the magic is still here from all those years ago!” and brother and sister Caleb and Joy Currier smile happily back at me. I mention that I’ve been coming here to Currier Orchards for 30 years. Back then; and still now; does the apple farm tours for the young school age children. I remember it well as a field trip parent, a hay wagon full of bubbly kindergartners’ happily spending a morning on a Fall field trip, picking apples, with big smiles; and as the children are told by Farmer Currier that they can find an apple to eat right there in the orchard; the children happily do just that! Those children now adults many with their own children and are returning to Currier Orchards to enjoy the same experience they had. I am in search of apples and see the delicious cider and I add those items. I love the experience of walking the paths to the orchards and hand picking the apples myself; but today I will be buying what’s in the store. There is also local honey which I add. Today, I am there with my husband, and we stock up on various apples, apple cider donuts, I say: let’s get an apple pie today! I am wondering though, about the logistics of transporting;. My husband speaks up and suggests that we bake it ahead, and both Caleb and I laugh and I say: well, where will be the challenge in that? Of course I have to admit; it’s a great idea and we will do exactly that! I am back at Currier Orchards’. I realize that the window is closing on all of these seasonal treats being available. I ask: where is everyone? I add: It’s a perfect day for picking apples, buying apple cider donuts, and enjoying everything else that Currier Orchards has to offer. Joy smiles at me but I can tell she wonders the same thing. I ask Joy if anyone has ever written an editorial about Currier Orchards and she replies: yes, once, someone did. I offer to be another voice doing so, and Joy says okay. I smile big and Joy smiles back big at me and says Thank you! Therefore, I write Google Review today and invite everyone to enjoy the Currier Orchards’ magical experience!
10/10, this place has hardly changed from the times I was brought here by family and my local kindergarten class. I STILL have my wooden nickel, and by the looks of their general store walls, they may well still have my kindergarten classes Polaroid. The owners are friendly folks who will kindly wave at you even during their off-season. I'll be stopping by again next time I come through town, and you should, too!
