SummerWinds Nursery - Glendale AZ

I was here a few days ago with my Fiancé. We had been looking to purchase a grapevine for our backyard. It was immediately apparent when looking at their grapes that they were all infested with powdery mildew. We still chose to take a chance, grabbed the least infected looking one, and headed to the counter. We explained the situation to a nice woman and asked if we could have a small discount on this 90$ vine. She called over an older gentleman and didn't even finish her explanation before this man declared "that's not powdery mildew" several times in a row while walking over. He stopped several feet from the counter and didn't take any sort of close look at my plant, he said that the plant was supposed to look like this and that the powder was normal as leaves got "older". He then condescendingly asked me if I had grown squash before, and that the same thing happened to them when their leaves got older too. I pointed out a younger looking leaf that had clear clusters of white powder and he dissmissed me entirely and proceeded to point to a completely different and much older leaf and again insisted I was wrong and refused the discount. We used our points to get one anyways (which we should not have had to do) and I took the plant home. Now that I am home and have looked at the plant fully, I can clearly see he was in fact incorrect and I have had to prune several bunches of fruit off of the plant and toss them into the compost, as they had white fuzz on a select few in the bundle and the rest felt rough and looked scarred. The canes also have a mix of some kind of black spot mildew that affects both older and younger canes, though not all of them. I have begun the long road of trying to fix a plant that came to me sick. Here are pictures I have included of the black spot mold, and the fuzzy grapes that I pulled out of the compost bin to show. Very disappointing customer service considering we have spent a LOT here. Looking at other 1-star reviews its clear Ryan has a history of being dismissive and abrasive with customers.

Absolutely loved this nursery and garden center 🌿🌸✨. They had a huge selection of healthy plants, flowers, pots, and gardening supplies, and everything looked really well taken care of. Staff was friendly and actually knowledgeable when I asked questions about plant care and landscaping ideas. The whole place had such a relaxing atmosphere and it was honestly fun just walking around browsing everything. Prices felt reasonable for the quality too. Definitely a great spot whether you’re seriously into gardening or just looking to pick up a few plants for the house or yard.

I went looking for a special yard decoration I saw before Christmas. They had some last year, but were all gone, when I decided I wanted one. To was a heart with drift wood and glass. When I got there I didn’t see any. The lady there, thought they were all gone. But luckily she spied one, out in the plant area. I was so happy! I didn’t get the ladies name, but she was so very helpful. I made a few other purchases. I was so glad, to finally get what I wanted. Thanks for a very helpful employee!

I always love shopping here at this nursery. They always have a really good selection of plants and fruit trees. All of their staff are super friendly and knowledgeable, especially when it comes to planting advice. Today I purchased a really nice Santa Rosa plum tree, and was I was surprised to know that my new tree came with a lifetime warranty. That can’t be said for Home Depot (3 months) or Lowe’s (1yr). I highly recommend SummerWinds to anyone looking for a nice upscale nursery with the best plant selection in the valley.

Let me tell you …… the plant selection here is phenomenal. Customer service was A1. I will definitely be returning here. I’m done with Homedepot and Lowe’s! I’m so mad it took me this long to finally come in and check it out. I can’t wait to come back and bring my kids!!
