Superior Garden Center - Columbia MO

Beautiful tree, great customer service, terrible planting. I'm a first time homebuyer and knew nothing about buying or planting trees. I had a great experience selecting a tree. However, a little more than a year later (after the warranty has expired of course) my tree started to die from the top down. After a bit of research, I learned my tree was not planted properly. It was buried WAY to deep. Even after some digging I can't see the root flare, which should be above ground. A GIANT mound of mulch was piled over the tree by the planters, like a good foot up the tree. When I removed the mulch, I saw it was covering burlap which went up a good 10 inches up the tree and was wrapped tightly around - not cut back. The selection, customer service, and quality of the trees was lovely. However, I would NOT recommend hiring them to plant a tree. I wish I would have known a bit more at the time, so I could have caught it. However, I knew nothing about how trees should be planted until it was dying and I had to research why. The bottom 2/3 of the tree are still alive, so I'm hoping it is salvageable/ fixable, I'm doing my best.

I was there today and experienced the best customer service. Lisa was so knowledgeable on every shrub I had a question about. She also gathered up the 11 different shrubs I purchased and loaded in my vehicle. She is just top notch ! Great first time buying experience for me at Superior Garden Center !!!

I used to love this garden center and with my first house they honored their one year warranty for shrubs and I was able to replace hydrangeas that were not healthy with some lovely ninebarks. My husband and I recently purchased a large number of plants for landscaping and about 5 became very unhealthy looking even after watering and taking care of them. All the other plants are very vibrant. When I went to exchange the plants I was told that the policy had changed a year ago and I was not informed when I spent a large purchase here about that. If I had known they changed their policy, I would likely have purchased different bushes that are more resilient rather than hydrangeas. They refused all the plants and the employee that I initially talked to was rather rude to me and made me feel inferior. Beware that their policy is not transparent and if you express discontent with the plants, depending on who you talk to, you may be treated rudely. If I have been treated in a kind manner I would not be as upset. In the future we will likely be purchasing our plants from Strawberry Hill or Home Depot or Lowe's. Unfortunately, some of their landscape designers are really nice and knowledgeable and I really enjoyed the talking to the man that helped us pick out the plants, but I can't return.

I'm pretty sure this establishment has got to be heaven on Earth to me. The abundance of beautiful flowers and plants they provide are amazing. The pricing is worth the trip in itself. I'm not sure who the owners are but if I ever was to know, I'd be the first to thank them. There employees not only answered all my questions, they provided knowledge of flowers I never knew. A very nice gentleman even carried and loaded all my purchases into my vehicle without even being asked. A blonde haired lady, cannot remember her name, has definitely got top knotch customer service. She not only offered her opinion on the flowers I was purchasing, she showed me a few tips on decorating with them. Pretty sure I will never shop anywhere else and will definitely recommend to all my family and friends to make the trip for their gardening needs! LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.

It was my 1st visit to Superior garden center yesterday and I was greeted by very friendly staff. The owner himself helped me pick out wisteria vine trees for my backyard and explain to me each category of tree and when they bloom and for how long. I ended up with a American and a Chinese. The same he has in his yard at home. What a beautiful place this garden center is... Amazing selection and wonderful people.
