Levering Orchard - Ararat VA

While it was the first time we ever picked Apple's and it was fun, the drive back to the orchard was on a single lane dirt road which made it difficult when a car was coming in the other direction. Plus, there were only a very limited amount of places to pull off to let another car get by. On a positive note, the owner was very friendly and the apples tasted great.

Basic no frills apple orchard. Don’t go looking for apple cider, hay rides, apple fritters, etc. It’s difficult to find since Apple Maps takes you to a gated drive way. But we found the entrance by a sign we had passed on the way. Once at the orchard, it’s a short drive down a gravel road and a little hike to the orchards. At only $1 per pound we loaded up our buckets even towards the end of the season. The view is gorgeous!! We plan to return next year for cherries and peaches 😋

Local grower and great folks. Got stuck in the orchards with my vehicle due to the rain lately and the owner pulled me out and even got me a hose to rinse off my car. The apples were great and they introduced us to some new types of apples! We picked 5 bags and are making some great homemade apples sauce!

I went here the first day of sweet cherry season 2024, as cherries are my favorite fruit. I found Frank and company to be very polite and gracious. My cherries were store-quality and similarly priced. I did not pick my own as the fruit they had already picked was just too inviting, but I plan to explore this fantastic place more in the future. I found their website to be a little clunky, but useful nonetheless. And I strongly recommend the beautiful and scenic drive up from Mt Airy.

Absolutely terrible experience – complete waste of time! The gravel road and parking lot are in horrible condition – full of potholes and barely drivable. But the worst part was the incredibly rude staff, especially an employee named Paul. He was shockingly disrespectful and aggressive, yelling at multiple families just because a few kids ate a couple of cherries. Instead of handling it politely, he screamed “No eating, pack and leave!” in front of everyone, making the atmosphere tense and uncomfortable. His behavior was completely unprofessional and ruined what was supposed to be a fun outing. Don't waste your time or money here!
